Zinkenschlucht, Lower Austria

Exploring the “Grand Canyon” of Lower Austria

A devastating hot summer day. The decision between a climbing session and visiting overcrowded swim areas was to hard to take. Zinkenschlucht, a canyon in Lower Austria was an accomplished combination and definitely the best choice to make.

We started at the storage reservoir Erlaufstausee and climbed down to the lowest point of the dam and hiked along the river. After 15 minutes of stone block hopping we arrived at the first spot where we had to walk through the water. If you are thinking of taking off shoes and rolling up trousers you are off the track. Bikinis, swimming trunks and flip-flops was just enough to get us through deep spots and slippery stones.

Heat flash – explosion of flavours

Sweet pepper filled with summer

Sweet pepper filled with tomatoes, Halloumi, olives and cashews.

This dish will burst into life in one’s mouth in a symphony of delicious flavours. I cooked it yesterday after an exhausting bike ride in the middle of summer’s heat and I want to share it just with you.

I promise it is rather simple to cook it by following my recipe:
